Road traffic accidents claimed 13 lives in January 2025

According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, 137 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in January 2025. In them, 13 persons were killed and 176 persons injured. The number of fatalities was three higher and number of persons injured 13 lower than in January 2024. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Key selections

  • Of the persons who were killed in January 2025, eight travelled by passenger car, two by van and one by lorry.
  • One pedestrian was killed.
  • In addition, one other road user was killed.
  • Among those who died, nine were men and four women.
