Road traffic accidents claimed 10 lives in April 2025

According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, 179 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in April 2025. In them, 10 persons were killed and 209 persons injured. The number of fatalities was one higher and number of persons injured 23 higher than in April 2024. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Road traffic accidents in January to April

According to preliminary data, there were a total of 588 road traffic accidents involving personal injury in the January to April period of 2025. In them, 42 persons were killed and 722 persons injured. The number of deaths was two lower and the number of persons injured 17 lower than in the corresponding period of 2024. Of the persons who were killed, 30 travelled by passenger car, two by van, one by motorcycle and one by lorry. Four pedestrians and one cyclist on a traditional bicycle were killed. In addition, three other road users were killed.
