Road traffic accidents claimed 23 lives in May 2025
According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, 224 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in May 2025. In them, 23 persons were killed and 263 persons injured. The number of fatalities was 10 higher and number of persons injured 82 lower than in May 2024. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Road traffic accidents in January to May
According to preliminary data, there were a total of 813 road traffic accidents involving personal injury in the January to May period of 2025. In them, 65 persons were killed and 986 persons injured. The number of deaths was five higher and the number of persons injured 100 lower than in the corresponding period of 2024. Of the persons who were killed, 39 travelled by passenger car, two by van, seven by motorcycle and one by lorry. Seven pedestrians and one riders of light electric vehicles were killed. Five cyclists on a traditional bicycle were killed. In addition, three other road users were killed.
