Road traffic accidents claimed 21 lives in July 2025

According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, 295 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in July 2025. In them, 21 persons were killed and 367 persons injured. The number of fatalities was four higher and the number of persons injured 63 higher than in July 2024. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Road traffic accidents in January to July

According to preliminary data, there were a total of 1,362 road traffic accidents involving personal injury in the January to July period of 2025. In them, 98 persons were killed and 1,667 persons injured. The number of deaths was nine higher and the number of persons injured 102 lower than in the corresponding period of 2024. Of the persons who were killed, 59 travelled by passenger car, three by van, 14 by motorcycle and one by lorry. Eight pedestrians, two riders of a light electric vehicle and eight cyclists on a traditional bicycle were killed. In addition, three other road users were killed.
