Road traffic accidents claimed 16 lives in October 2025
According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, 222 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in October 2025. In them, 16 persons were killed and 253 persons injured. The number of fatalities was four higher and the number of persons injured 42 lower than in October 2024. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Road traffic accidents in January to October
According to preliminary data, there were a total of 2,127 road traffic accidents involving personal injury in the January to October period of 2025. In them, 158 persons were killed and 2,546 persons injured. The number of deaths was 20 higher and the number of persons injured 256 lower than in the corresponding period of 2024. Of the persons who were killed, 86 travelled by passenger car, eight by van, one by moped, 17 by motorcycle and two by lorry. Seventeen pedestrians and two riders of a light electric vehicles were killed. Eighteen cyclists on a traditional bicycle and one cyclist on an electric bicycle were killed. In addition, six other road users were killed.
