According to Statistics Finland, working day adjusted turnover in industry (TOL BCD) increased by 10.4 per cent in March 2025 from March 2024.

Turnover grew most in the electronic and electrical industry

Turnover grew in nearly all main industries in March. Turnover grew most in the electronic and electrical industry, by 28.5 per cent from one year ago. Turnover in the metal industry was 17.0 per cent higher and in the forest industry 16.4 per cent higher than one year earlier. Turnover also grew in the chemical industry (6.3%), the food industry (4.2%) and the textile industry (1.6%). Turnover decreased in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 7.7 per cent and in mining and quarrying by 0.7 per cent from one year back.

Export turnover grew in all main industries

Export turnover grew in all main industries in March from one year ago. There were political industrial actions in March 2024. Partly for this reason, export turnover was in several industries lower than usual in the comparison period. Export turnover in the forest industry grew most, by 38.0 per cent from the previous year. Export turnover was 37.2 per cent higher in the electronic and electrical industry and 27.1 per cent higher in the metal industry. Export turnover in the food industry grew by 23.9 per cent from the previous year. Export turnover grew both in the chemical industry and in the textile industry by 8.6 per cent from one year earlier.

Domestic turnover decreased in nearly all main industries in March. Domestic turnover decreased most in mining and quarrying (-22.9%) and in the forest industry (-20.0%). Domestic turnover in the electronic and electrical industry was 9.4 per cent lower and in the metal industry 4.2 per cent lower than one year earlier. Domestic turnover increased only in the chemical industry, by 1.0 per cent from one year ago.

Turnover grew in March from the month before

Seasonally adjusted turnover in industry increased by 3.8 per cent in March 2025 compared to February. Turnover grew by 2.0 per cent in February and decreased by 1.8 per cent in January from the month before.
