Turnover in industry decreased by 1.3 per cent in May 2025
According to Statistics Finland, working day adjusted turnover in industry (TOL BCD) decreased by 1.3 per cent in May 2025 from May 2024.

Turnover grew most in the chemical industry
Working day adjusted turnover increased most in the chemical industry, by 18.2 per cent from the previous year. Turnover in mining and quarrying was 14.2 per cent higher than one year earlier. In the electronic and electrical industry, turnover grew by 8.7 per cent and in the textile, clothing and leather industry by 1.2 per cent. Turnover decreased most in the forest industry, by 12.4 per cent from one year ago. Turnover in the metal industry was 1.8 per cent lower and turnover in the food industry 1.3 per cent lower than in the previous year.
Export turnover increased in several main industries
Export turnover increased in several main industries in May. Export turnover grew most in the chemical industry, by 29.7 per cent from the year before. In mining and quarrying, export turnover was 26.2 per cent higher and in the electronic and electrical industry export turnover was 10.2 per cent higher than one year earlier. Export turnover declined in the forest industry (-5.6%), the food industry (-1.2%) and the metal industry (-1.2%).
Domestic turnover decreased in nearly all main industries in May. Domestic turnover declined most in the forest industry (-25.2%) and the electronic and electrical industry (-4.0%). Domestic turnover in the metal industry was 3.4 per cent lower and in the food industry 1.9 per cent lower than one year earlier. Domestic turnover increased only in the chemical industry, by 0.3 per cent from the previous year.
Turnover decreased in May from the previous month
Seasonally adjusted turnover in industry decreased by 1.9 per cent in May 2025 compared to April. Turnover decreased by 3.2 per cent in April and grew by 4.8 per cent in March compared to the month before.
