Turnover in industry grew by 0.2 per cent in September 2025

According to Statistics Finland, working day adjusted turnover in industry (TOL BCD) increased by 0.2 per cent in September 2025 from September 2024.

Turnover increased in several main industries

Adjusted for working days, turnover grew in September in several main industries. Turnover grew most strongly in mining and quarrying, by 16.5 per cent from one year ago. In the electronic and electrical industry, turnover was 10.2 per cent higher and in the food industry 6.7 per cent higher than one year earlier. Turnover also grew in the textile, clothing and leather industry (3.0%), the chemical industry (2.3%) and the metal industry (0.9%). Turnover was lower than one year ago in the forest industry (-4.6%) and in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (-4.5%).

Export turnover and domestic turnover grew in nearly all main industries

In September, growth in export turnover was strongest in mining and quarrying, up by 18.9 per cent from the previous year. Export turnover in the electronic and electrical industry increased by 12.0 per cent and in the food industry by 11.2 per cent from one year ago. Export turnover also increased in the chemical industry (3.6%) and in the textile, clothing and leather industry (1.2%). Export turnover in the metal industry remained on level with the previous year. Export turnover decreased only in the forest industry, by 6.3 per cent from twelve months earlier.

In September, domestic turnover grew most in the food industry (7.9%) and in the electronic and electrical industry (7.1%) from the year before. Domestic turnover was 6.5 per cent higher in mining and quarrying and 4.7 per cent higher in the textile, clothing and leather industry compared to the previous year. Domestic turnover in the metal industry went up by 4.1 per cent and in the forest industry by 0.4 per cent from one year ago. Domestic turnover decreased only in the chemical industry, by 0.7 per cent from the previous year.

Turnover grew in September from the month before

Seasonally adjusted turnover in industry increased by 1.0 per cent in September 2025 compared to August. Turnover grew by 2.3 per cent in August and decreased by 3.7 per cent in July compared to the month before.
