New orders in manufacturing decreased by 3.7 per cent year-on-year in October 2025

EnterprisesAccording to Statistics Finland, the value of new orders in manufacturing was 3.7 per cent lower in October 2025 than twelve months earlier. The value of new orders received by enterprises during January to October was 6.9 per cent higher than one year ago.

Changes in the examined main industries
Enterprises received fewer new orders in October 2025 than twelve months ago in the chemical industry and in the manufacture of paper, and paper and board products. Orders decreased most in the chemical industry where the value of orders was 27.3 per cent lower than in the year before. In the manufacture of paper, and paper and board products, the value of new orders was 8.5 per cent lower than a year earlier. New orders in the metal industry grew by 1.8 per cent from one year ago.
When interpreting these statistics, it should be borne in mind that they typically show strong fluctuations by month. Even new orders of substantial value are not examined over extended time periods but for the statistical reference month only.
