In September 2025, the revised classification called COICOP2018, which is internationally harmonised up to the 5-digit level, was adopted in national accounts. The change had no impact on the sum level of private consumption.
The most significant changes due to the adoption of the new version were splitting division 12 (Insurance and financial services and miscellaneous services) into two divisions and moving home electronics and computers from division 09 to division 08. Other smaller changes were also made.
The format of the divisions’ numeric code remained unchanged although the headings and content of several divisions changed. The user needs to check which classification is used for the data, as the classification used cannot be deduced from the codes or headings.
The table package combining national accounts data is available in PDF/A format in Finnish and English. The table package is updated in connection with each annual national accounts release.
