According to Statistics Finland’s preliminary data, the total volume of goods transported in domestic coastal waterborne traffic was 0.8 million tonnes in the second quarter of 2025. Transports decreased by 8 per cent compared to the second quarter of 2024. Domestic water transport took place almost only in coastal waterways.

Oil products were transported most in domestic waterborne traffic in the second quarter of 2025

Oil products were transported most, in total 428,477 tonnes, which was 50 per cent of all transport. Crude minerals and cement was transported next most, 87,790 tonnes, making up 10 per cent of all transport. Preliminary data on timber transport are supplemented at the end of the statistical reference year.
