Vessels in the regular merchant fleet numbered 624 in December 2024

According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, the size of Finland's regular merchant fleet was 624 vessels in December 2024. Small vessels included 202 vessels and barges and other engineless vessels 269 vessels. The total size of the Finnish merchant fleet was 1,095 vessels with gross tonnage of 1,915,844. In December, the number of vessels in the regular merchant fleet decreased by 31 compared to November.

Key selections

  • Compared to the situation at the end of December 2023, the number of vessels in the regular merchant fleet had decreased by 58 and the number of vessels in the entire combined merchant fleet by 164 by the end of December 2024.
  • Starting from October 2024, a register maintenance fee will be levied from vessels in the register.
  • The Register of Merchant Vessels, in which vessels operating mainly in foreign traffic can be entered, contained a total of 96 vessels in December 2024.
  • The data of the statistics will in future be published quarterly.
