Read more about the changeAccording to Statistics Finland, there were 1,472,516 families in Finland at the end of 2024, which is 5,562 families more than in the year before. The share of persons belonging to a family in the population has, however, decreased. The number of families has in part increased by way of Ukrainian families having received a municipality of residence in Finland. While in 1994 the commonest family type was a married couple with children, in 2024 the commonest family type was a married couple without children.
