Wages and salaries sum increased in March 2025
According to Statistics Finland’s data, the working day adjusted wages and salaries sum of the whole economy was 1.1 per cent higher in March 2025 than in March 2024. The seasonally adjusted wages and salaries sum of the whole economy decreased by 0.4 per cent in March from the previous month.

Wages and salaries sum increased by 0.7 per cent year-on-year in the private sector in March
The working day adjusted wages and salaries sum was 0.7 per cent higher in the private sector in March than twelve months earlier. The wages and salaries sum in the public sector was 2.7 per cent higher than a year earlier in the corresponding period. The seasonally adjusted wages and salaries sum decreased in both private and public sectors by 0.4 per cent in March from the month before.
Wages and salaries sum grew in most main industries in the private sector
The working day adjusted wages and salaries sum grew in March 2025 in majority of main industries but decreased in the industries of private health and social work, private education and trade compared to March 2024. The working day adjusted wages and salaries sum increased significantly in the industry of finance and insurance (8.2 %). The growth was moderate in the industries of construction (3.5 %), manufacturing (3.1 %) and other services (1.8 %). At the same period the working day adjusted wages and salaries sum decreased in the industries of private health and social work (-1.1 %), private education (-0.8 %) and trade (-0.1 %).
The factors caused by the variation in the number of weekdays are taken into account in adjustment for working days. This means taking into consideration the lengths of months, different weekdays and holidays. In addition, seasonal variation is eliminated from seasonally adjusted series, on account of which it makes sense to compare observations of two successive months as well.
