Number of accidents at work decreased by 2.5 per cent in 2023

According to the data of Statistics Finland, the number of occupational accidents decreased in 2025 from the previous year. A total of 118,383 accidents at work occurred in 2023. This was 2.5 per cent less than in the year before.

  • There were 2,997 less accidents at work in 2023 than in the year before.
  • Wage and salary earners had 109,624 and self-employed (without farmers) 5,725 accidents at work in the year 2023.
  • There were 3034 Farmers' accidents at work in the year 2023.
  • There were in total 4 more fatal accidents in 2023 than in the year before.
  • Wage and salary earners had 1.9 per cent less commuting accidents and 2.8 per cent less workplace accidents in 2023 than in the year before.
