Median earnings of wage and salary earners EUR 3,611 per month in 2024

According to Statistics Finland, the median for total earnings of full-time wage and salary earners was EUR 3,611 per month in 2024. The average for total earnings was EUR 4,070. The median for total earnings was EUR 3,884 for men and EUR 3,373 for women per month.

Key selections

  • Those belonging to the best paid decile earned at least EUR 6,115 per month and the earnings of the lowest paid decile were under EUR 2,477 in 2024.
  • Examined by level of education, wage and salary earners with doctoral level education had the highest median earnings, EUR 5,685.

Structure of earnings statistics have been reviewed

The structure of earnings statistics for 2024 were produced with renewed data and production methods.

The structure of earnings statistics for 2024 provide data on the earnings of around 1.7 million full-time wage and salary earners and on the earnings of altogether 2.4 million full-time and part-time wage and salary earners. The structure of earnings statistics describe all wage and salary earners working in non-financial corporations, financial and insurance corporations, general government and non-profit institutions serving households. Households as employers are excluded from the statistics.

Data are published in the statistics on total earnings and earnings for regular working hours. Besides earnings for regular working hours, total earnings also include pay for overtime and working hour supplements but not one-off pay items, such as performance-based bonuses or holiday bonuses. Earnings are in gross, that is, taxes or other payments have not been reduced from them.
