Altogether 18.7 million same-day leisure trips were made in Finland in 2024

release

According to Statistics Finland, a total of 21.6 million domestic same-day trips were made in 2024, when leisure trips and business trips are included. Of the trips 18.7 million were leisure trips. Data on domestic same-day trips were last collected in 2021, when one half more trips were made than in 2024.

Key selections

  • The number of same-day leisure trips in Finland fell in 2024 by nearly 10 million from the previous data collection in 2021. The fall is partly explained by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, when domestic tourism was at its peak.
  • Around 4.1 million domestic same-day trips with overnight stay were made to Uusimaa, which is one third fewer than in 2021. The number of same-day trips to Southwest Finland and Pirkanmaa also went down by nearly one third.
  • The total number of business-related same-day trips in Finland fell, but in Uusimaa the number of trips grew in three years by nearly one fifth to 0.9 million.
  • Data on domestic same-day trips are collected every three years. Next in 2027.
