Nearly 11,000 enterprise openings in the first quarter of 2025

According to Statistics Finland, there were 10,965 enterprise openings in January to March 2025. At the same time, enterprise closures numbered 21,433. The number of enterprise openings was highest in Uusimaa and Pirkanmaa. Correspondingly, the number of enterprise closures was highest in Uusimaa and the region of Pirkanmaa.

  • In January to March 2025, the number of enterprise openings was highest in Professional, scientific and technical activities (TOL M) with nearly 1,900 enterprise openings.
  • The number of enterprise closures was also highest in Professional, scientific and technical activities (TOL M) with over 4,200 enterprise closures.
  • The enterprise closures are impacted by a change in legislation whereby the VAT relief concerning small enterprises was abolished.
