Drug-related deaths decreased in 2024 – return to the level of 2022

According to Statistics Finland, there were 247 drug-related deaths in 2024. This is 63 fewer than in 2023, when a record number of people died from drugs. The number of drug-related deaths returned to the same level as in 2022, when 250 persons died from drugs. Drug-related deaths of young people aged under 25 decreased clearly in 2024, but the number of drug-related deaths of those aged 25 to 34 grew from the previous year.
