Domestic material consumption and extraction of natural resources grew in 2025
releaseAccording to Statistics Finland, domestic material consumption grew by around four per cent in 2025 from the previous year and amounted to 228.4 million tonnes. Domestic extraction from nature amounted to 225.9 million tonnes, which is five per cent more than in 2024. Imports and exports of materials also grew in 2025.

- In 2025, domestic material consumption rose by 9.2 million tonnes from the year before.
- The utilisation of domestic natural resources in the economy increased by nearly 11.6 million tonnes from the year before.
- Imports of materials from abroad grew by two per cent from the previous year and amounted to 46.5 million tonnes in 2025.
- A total of 44 million tonnes of materials were exported, which is eight per cent more than in 2024.
