Half of Finnish household-dwelling units were debt-free in 2025
releaseAccording to Statistics Finland, exactly half (50,0%) of Finnish household-dwelling units were debt-free in 2025. The average debt per indebted household-dwelling unit was EUR 95,300 in 2025. The majority (68%) of the total amount owed was housing debt. Households with housing loans made up 28 per cent of all household-dwelling units in Finland.

- At the end of 2025, household-dwelling units' debts amounted to EUR 137 billion, while interest payments amounted to EUR 5 billion.
- Both the total amount of debt and the total amount of interest decreased from the previous year.
