Altogether 2,1 million persons owned listed shares or mutual funds in 2025

According to Statistics Finland, 2.14 million persons owned mutual funds or listed shares at the end of 2025, which was 94,000 more than a year earlier. For the first time, the statistics include information on the distribution of individuals' bank deposits. The median bank deposit of the adult population was EUR 5,000 at the end of 2025.

  • At the end of 2025, altogether 38% of the population owned mutual funds, listed shares, or both. The number of owners stood at 2.14 million.
  • Mutual funds were owned by 32% of the population and listed shares by 17%. Men were more likely than women to own listed shares.
  • ⁠Among persons with a higher university degree, 64% owned mutual funds or listed shares. The corresponding share among adults with no qualification beyond basic education was 20%.
  • According to bank deposit data published for the first time, the median bank deposit of the adult population was approximately EUR 5,000.
  • The median combined value of mutual funds, listed shares and bank deposits held by the adult population was approximately EUR 8,000.
