Road traffic accidents claimed 10 lives in December 2025

Transport and tourismAccording to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, 218 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in December 2025. In them, 10 persons were killed and 299 persons injured. The number of fatalities was two lower and the number of persons injured two higher than in December 2024. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Road traffic accidents in January to December
According to preliminary data, there were a total of 2,612 road traffic accidents involving personal injury in the January to December period of 2025. In them, 180 persons were killed and 3,192 persons injured. The number of deaths was one lower and the number of persons injured 254 lower than in the corresponding period of 2024. Of the persons who were killed, 96 travelled by passenger car, 11 by van, one by moped, 17 by motorcycle and two by lorry. 25 pedestrians and two riders of a light electric vehicle were killed. 18 cyclists on a traditional bicycle and two cyclists on an electric bicycle were killed. In addition, six other road users were killed.
