Road traffic accidents claimed 13 lives in February 2026

Transport and tourismAccording to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, 136 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in February 2026. In them, 13 persons were killed and 182 persons injured. The number of fatalities was six higher and the number of persons injured 42 higher than in February 2025. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Road traffic accidents in January to February
According to preliminary data, there were a total of 285 road traffic accidents involving personal injury in the January to February period of 2026. In them, 22 persons were killed and 387 persons injured. The number of deaths was two higher and the number of persons injured 71 higher than in the corresponding period of 2025. Of the persons who were killed, 17 travelled by passenger car. Four pedestrians were killed. In addition, one other road user was killed.
