Road traffic accidents claimed 8 lives in March 2026

Transport and tourismAccording to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, 145 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in March 2026. In them, 8 persons were killed and 171 persons injured. The number of fatalities was three lower and the number of persons injured 21 lower than in March 2025. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Road traffic accidents in January to March
According to preliminary data, there were a total of 435 road traffic accidents involving personal injury in the January to March period of 2026. In them, 30 persons were killed and 564 persons injured. The number of deaths was one lower and the number of persons injured 53 higher than in the corresponding period of 2025. Of the persons who were killed, 21 travelled by passenger car, two by van and one by motorcycle. Five pedestrian was killed. In addition, one other road user was killed.
