Road traffic accidents claimed 10 lives in April 2026

According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, 155 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in April 2026. In them, 10 persons were killed and 198 persons injured. The number of fatalities was the same and the number of persons injured 11 lower than in April 2025. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Road traffic accidents in January to April

According to preliminary data, there were a total of 596 road traffic accidents involving personal injury in the January to April period of 2026. In them, 41 persons were killed and 768 persons injured. The number of deaths was one lower and the number of persons injured 46 higher than in the corresponding period of 2025. Of the persons who were killed, 31 travelled by passenger car, two by van and one by motorcycle. Six pedestrians were killed. In addition, one other road user was killed.
