Volume of goods transported by lorries decreased by 16 per cent in the last quarter of 2025

According to Statistics Finland, a total of 52 million tonnes of goods were transported by lorries in domestic road transport in the last quarter of 2025. The volume of goods transported decreased by 16 per cent compared to the previous year. The transport performance decreased by 6 per cent and totalled 6 billion tonne-kilometres.

  • In the last quarter of 2025, the volume of goods transported in domestic road transport decreased by 10 million tonnes compared to the same period of the previous year.
  • The volume of soil material transport decreased by 18 per cent, while other transport decreased by 15 per cent. Soil materials accounted for 32 per cent of the total volume of goods transported.
  • Of the goods transported, 61 per cent was carried by full trailer combinations, 15 per cent by semi-trailer combinations and 24 per cent by trucks without trailers.
  • 94 per cent of the transport performance was carried out in licensed transport and 6 per cent in private transport.
