Volume of goods transported by lorries increased by one per cent in the first quarter of 2026

According to Statistics Finland, a total of 50 million tonnes of goods were transported by lorries in domestic road transport in the first quarter of 2026. The volume of goods transported increased by one per cent compared to the previous year. The transport performance decreased by 9 per cent and totalled 6 billion tonne-kilometres.

  • The volume of soil material transport increased by 7 per cent, while other transport decreased by one per cent. Soil materials accounted for 19 per cent of the total volume of goods transported.
  • Of the goods transported, 63 per cent was carried by full trailer combinations, 17 per cent by semi-trailer combinations and 20 per cent by trucks without trailers.
  • 97 per cent of the transport performance was carried out in licensed transport and 3 per cent in private transport.
