Goods transport by road 2026, 2nd quarter

Volume of goods transported by lorries increased by 15 per cent in the second quarter of 2026

According to Statistics Finland, a total of 51 million tonnes of goods were transported by lorries in domestic road transport in the second quarter of 2026. The volume of goods transported increased by 15 per cent compared to the previous year. The transport performance increased by 6 per cent and totalled 6 billion tonne-kilometres.

  • In the second quarter of 2026, the volume of goods transported in domestic road transport increased by 6 million tonnes compared to the same period of the previous year.
  • The volume of soil material transport increased by 27 per cent, while other transport increased by 11 per cent. Soil materials accounted for 29 per cent of the total volume of goods transported.
  • Of the goods transported, 62 per cent was carried by full trailer combinations, 18 per cent by semi-trailer combinations and 20 per cent by trucks without trailers.
  • 96 per cent of the transport performance was carried out in licensed transport and 4 per cent in private transport.
