A total of 1.8 million passengers flew through Finnish airports in May 2026

According to Statistics Finland, altogether 1.8 million passengers flew through Finnish airports in May 2026. The total number of passengers increased 4 per cent compared to May 2025. The number of passengers on domestic flights increased 8 per cent and the number of passengers on international flights increased by 4 per cent from the previous year.

Number of passengers on Finnish airport increased from last year.

In May 2026, a total of 1.6 million passengers flew through Helsinki Airport and altogether 202,000 passengers flew through other domestic airports. Compared to May 2026, the total number of passengers was 4 per cent higher at domestic airports.

Of the air traffic passengers 86 per cent travelled on international flights and 14 per cent on domestic flights in May 2026. The share of passengers on international flights was 92 per cent at Helsinki Airport and 38 per cent in total at other domestic airports. Of all passengers, 97 per cent travelled on scheduled flights.

In May 2026, air freight and mail transport totalled 17,318 tonnes. In all, 97 per cent of the tonnes were transported through Helsinki Airport and 99 per cent in traffic between Finland and foreign countries. Altogether 7,628 tonnes (44%) of the transported volume of goods were incoming and 9,690 tonnes (56%) were outgoing.

In January to May 2026, a total of yhteensä 8.7 million passengers flew through Finnish airports, which was 7 per cent higher than in 2025 during the same period.

From the beginning of 2026 the volume of freight and mail transport totalled 79,299 tonnes, which was 5 per cent higher than in January to May 2025.
