According to Statistics Finland, 385 bankruptcy proceedings were instigated in January 2026, which is four more than in the corresponding period one year earlier. On the monthly level the number of bankruptcies has last been this high in October 1997. The number of staff-years in
enterprises that filed for bankruptcy totalled 1,518, which is 93 staff-years fewer than in January 2026.
