Share of highly educated persons aged 25 to 34 grew in 2025
releaseAccording to Statistics Finland, 3,654,800 persons had completed a post-comprehensive level qualification in 2025. A total of 371,600 persons had completed a basic level qualification and 1,672,200 persons had completed a tertiary level qualification.

- The educational level of persons aged 25 to 34 with tertiary level qualifications rose in 2025.
- Data on education completed abroad are not comprehensively included in Statistics Finland's Register of Completed Education and Degrees, so reliable register-based data are not available on the level of education of persons with foreign background born abroad.
- The share of persons aged 20 with only basic level education decreased by 1.9 percentage points compared to the previous year and by 2.5 percentage points compared to 2023.
- The Act on Compulsory Education (1241/2020), according to which compulsory education ends when a young person turns 18 or completes an upper secondary level qualification, concerned for the first time persons born in 2005.
- The most popular field of education was technology, where 84 per cent of those with qualifications were men and 16 per cent women.
