Number of domestic leisure trips remained unchanged in August 2026
releaseAccording to Statistics Finland, around 2.2 million domestic leisure trips with overnight stay were made in August 2026. Around 0.7 million leisure trips abroad were made. Trips abroad include trips with overnight stay in the destination country, overnight cruises and same-day trips. The number of domestic leisure trips remained unchanged and that of leisure trips abroad grew slightly from the previous year.

- Around 1.5 million domestic leisure trips with free accommodation were made in August 2026, which is slightly lower than in August 2025.
- The number of domestic leisure trips with paid accommodation was 0.7 million, which is a good one tenth more than in the year before.
- The number of leisure trips abroad with overnight stay in the destination country was around 0.6 million, which is over one tenth more than in August 2025.
- Altogether 8.4 million overnight stays during leisure trips were recorded in Finland and 3.7 million abroad in August 2026.
