According to Statistics Finland, the total number of kilometres driven in road traffic in Finland was 48 billion car kilometres in 2025, which was one percent higher than in 2024. The traffic performance of lorries increased by two per cent. The volume of road traffic decreased by 0.1 per cent on highways but grew by three per cent on streets and private roads.

  • In 2025, a total of 36.2 billion kilometres were driven on Finnish highways. A total of 11.8 billion kilometres were driven on streets and private roads.
  • In 2025, altogether 39 billion kilometres were driven with passenger cars, which is one per cent more than in 2024.
  • The traffic performance of lorries increased by two per cent and that of buses and coaches increased by 0.4 per cent from the year before.
  • At the end of 2025, the length of highways totalled 77,828 km, which is one km more than one year earlier.
