Cubic volume of granted building permits increased by 8 per cent in June 2026 from one year back
releaseAccording to Statistics Finland, the annual cubic volume of construction actions having been granted a building permit for newbuilding increased by eight per cent in June 2026 from one year ago. Building permits were granted for a total of 33 million cubic metres between July 2025 and June 2026. Over the period, building projects totalling nearly 28 million cubic metres were completed, which was 4 per cent down from one year earlier.

- In June 2026, the annual cubic volume of building permits granted for residential buildings decreased by 13 per cent. The cubic volume of other than residential building construction went up by 13 per cent.

Cubic volume covered by granted building permits was bigger than one year ago in thirteen regions
The annual total cubic volume of building permits granted for newbuilding was highest in Uusimaa and Southwest Finland in June 2026. The cubic volume was bigger than one year earlier in thirteen regions.
The annual total of the cubic volume of completed building projects was highest in Uusimaa and Southwest Finland in June 2026. The cubic volume went up in ten regions.
In the whole country, the annual total of new dwellings completed at building sites was 20,058 in June 2026, which was two per cent higher than one year earlier. Among the regions, most dwellings were completed in Uusimaa, 9,252. Compared to the previous year, the number of completed new dwellings increased in eleven regions.
