Households' energy consumption continued declining in 2024
releaseAccording to Statistics Finland, final consumption of energy products used by Finns in Finland and abroad fell by 0.7 per cent in 2024 from the previous year. Energy consumption totalled 1.12 million terajoules. Households' final energy consumption decreased by two per cent, while energy consumption in services grew by three per cent. In manufacturing, final energy consumption grew by 0.2 per cent from the previous year.

- In 2024, final energy consumption decreased by 0.7 per cent compared to 2023.
- Forty-one per cent of final energy consumption was consumed in manufacturing, 27 per cent in households and 11 per cent in service industries.
- Electricity consumption grew by two per cent, while heat consumption fell by five per cent. Heat consumption covers both district heat used to heat buildings and industrial heat used by manufacturing.
- Final energy consumption grew by three per cent in service industries, by two per cent in transportation and storage, and by one per cent in agriculture and forestry. Energy consumption in construction continued to fall, although more moderately than in the year before.
- The amount of energy produced with wind power grew by 40 per cent.
