Private sector cost of an hour worked increased by 2.4 per cent in October to December 2025

According to Statistics Finland, labour costs in the private sector increased by 2.4 per cent in October to December 2025 when compared to the respective period of the year before. In the central government sector, costs grew by 1.1 per cent and in local government by 4.2 per cent.

  • The fourth quarter of 2025 had 63 working days, which is one more than in the corresponding period of 2024.
  • In the local government, the cost of an hour worked grew more than in private sector and in the central government in October to December 2025 from one year ago.
  • Among private sector industries, the biggest rise in labour costs was recorded in information and communication (J), 4.8 per cent.
  • Costs in the private sector grew least in chemical industry (C 19-22), 0.4 per cent.
  • In the labour cost index, growth in costs is usually curbed by growth in the number of working days.
