According to Statistics Finland, working day adjusted turnover in industry (TOL BCD) increased by 7.6 per cent in January 2026 from January 2025.

Turnover increased in several main industries

Working day adjusted turnover grew in several main industries in January. Turnover grew most in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, by 34.2 per cent from the year before. Turnover in mining and quarrying was 17.0 per cent higher than one year earlier. Turnover in the chemical industry increased by 6.1 per cent and that in the metal industry by 2.0 per cent from one year before. Turnover was higher than one year ago also in the textile, clothing and leather industry and in the food industry. Turnover decreased in January in two main industries, in the forest industry by 6.1 per cent and in the electronic and electrical industry by 2.3 per cent.

Export turnover grew most in mining and quarrying

In January, growth in export turnover was strongest in the industry of mining and quarrying, up by 27.3 per cent from the previous year. Export turnover in the chemical industry was 9.2 per cent higher and in the textile, clothing and leather industry 1.4 per cent higher than one year earlier. In other main industries, export turnover decreased from the previous year. Export turnover in the forest industry was 10.4 per cent lower and export turnover in the metal industry 0.8 per cent lower than one year earlier. In the food industry, export turnover decreased by 3.8 per cent and in the electronic and electrical industry by 3.3 per cent.

Domestic turnover grew in nearly all main industries in January. Domestic turnover increased most in the metal industry, by 9.6 per cent year-on-year. Domestic turnover in the textile, clothing and leather industry was 5.6 per cent higher and in the forest industry 4.7 per cent higher than one year earlier. Domestic turnover in the chemical industry grew by 1.2 per cent from the previous year. Domestic turnover decreased only in the electronic and electrical industry, by 3.0 per cent from twelve months earlier.

Turnover grew in January from the month before

Seasonally adjusted turnover in industry grew by 4.7 per cent in January 2026 compared to December. Turnover decreased by 2.6 per cent in December and by 0.4 per cent in November from the month before.
