Turnover in industry grew by 6.7 per cent in April 2026

According to Statistics Finland, working day adjusted turnover in industry (TOL BCD) increased by 6.7 per cent in April 2026 from April 2025.

Turnover grew most in mining and quarrying

In April, turnover grew most strongly in mining and quarrying, by 36.9 per cent from one year ago. Turnover in the chemical industry was 21.2 per cent bigger than one year previously. Turnover grew by 9.5 per cent in the electrical and electronics industry and by 7.2 per cent in the metal industry.

In April, turnover was 5.0 per cent lower in the forest industry and 4.1 per cent lower in the textile, clothing and leather industry than one year ago. Turnover decreased by 0.7 per cent in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and by 0.4 per cent in the food industry.

Export turnover increased in several main industries

In April, export turnover grew most in mining and quarrying, up by 87.0 per cent from the previous year. Export turnover in the chemical industry grew by 22.9 per cent. Export turnover in the electrical and electronics industry was 9.1 per cent higher than one year previously. Export turnover also grew from one year ago in the metal industry (7.8%) and in the food industry (2.3%). Export turnover decreased in the textile, clothing and leather industry (-3.1%) and in the forest industry (-0.2%) from one year ago.

In April, domestic turnover grew most in the chemical industry, by 19.3 per cent from one year back. Domestic turnover in the electronic and electrical industry was 12.0 per cent higher and in the metal industry 5.5 per cent higher than one year earlier. Domestic turnover decreased in the forest industry (-12.8%), in the textile, clothing and leather industry (-4.6%), in mining and quarrying (-2.3%) and in the food industry (-0.5%) compared to one year ago.

Turnover decreased in April from the previous month

Seasonally adjusted turnover in industry decreased by 0.7 per cent in April 2026 compared to March. Turnover decreased by 0.2 per cent in March and grew by 3.1 per cent in February compared to the month before.
