Volume of transport in domestic coastal waterborne traffic decreased by 6 per cent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026

According to Statistics Finland’s preliminary data, the total volume of goods transported in domestic coastal waterborne traffic was 0.8 million tonnes in January to March 2026. Transports decreased by 6 per cent compared to the first quarter of 2025. Domestic water transport took place almost only in coastal waterways.

Oil products were transported most in the first quarter of 2026

In domestic waterborne traffic, oil products were transported most, in total 526,859 tonnes, which was 65 per cent of all transport. Crude minerals and cement were transported next most, 72,464 tonnes, making up nine per cent of all transport.
