Volume of transport in domestic coastal waterborne traffic decreased by 16 per cent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026
releaseAccording to Statistics Finland’s preliminary data, the total volume of goods transported in domestic coastal waterborne traffic was 0.8 million tonnes in April to June 2026. Transports decreased by 16 per cent compared to the second quarter of 2025. Domestic water transport took place almost only in coastal waterways.

- In terms of timber transport, preliminary data are supplemented later, which will have an effect especially on the transport volumes of inland waters.

Oil products were transported most in the second quarter of 2026
In domestic waterborne traffic, oil products were transported most, in total 416,985 tonnes, which was 52 per cent of all transport. Timber was transported next most, 139,903 tonnes, making up 18 per cent of all transport.
