New orders in manufacturing decreased by 1.1 per cent year-on-year in February 2026

EnterprisesAccording to Statistics Finland, the value of new orders in manufacturing was 1.1 per cent lower in February 2026 than twelve months earlier. During January to February, the value of new orders received by enterprises was 2.1 per cent lower than in the previous year.

Changes in the examined main industries
Enterprises received fewer new orders in February 2026 than twelve months earlier in the manufacture of paper and paper products, where the value of orders was 10.4 per cent lower than in the previous year. In the chemical industry, the value of new orders was 12.2 per cent higher than one year earlier. The value of orders increased slightly also in the metal industry, up by 0.3 per cent from the previous year.
When interpreting these statistics, it should be borne in mind that they typically show strong fluctuations by month. Even new orders of substantial value are not examined over extended time periods but for the statistical reference month only.
