New orders in manufacturing increased by 13.6 per cent year-on-year in April 2026
releaseAccording to Statistics Finland, the value of new orders in manufacturing was 13.6 per cent higher in April 2026 than twelve months earlier. During January to April, the value of new orders received by enterprises was 4.4 per cent higher than in the previous year.

Changes in the examined main industries
Enterprises received more orders in April 2026 than twelve months earlier in the metal industry and in the manufacture of paper and paper products. Most growth was recorded in the metal industry, where the value of orders was 20.1 per cent higher than in the year before. In the manufacture of paper and paper products, the value of new orders was 2.4 per cent higher than one year earlier. In the chemical industry, new orders decreased by 2.6 per cent from the year before.
When interpreting these statistics, it should be borne in mind that they typically show strong fluctuations by month. Even new orders of substantial value are not examined over extended time periods but for the statistical reference month only.
