The statistics on the public sectors environmental protection expenditure describe the amount of money central and local governments spend annually on environmental protection. The central governments environmental protection expenditure contains the administrative costs of environmental protection, expenditure on environmental protection and nature conservation, and environmental protection expenditure arising from the use of certain geographic areas. Most of the local governments environmental protection expenditure arises from wastewater treatment, waste management and air pollution control activities.
