General government financial accounts are part of national accounts and describe financial assets and liabilities of central government, local government and social security funds, as well as financial transactions influencing their amounts. Data are collected from various sources and published quarterly.

The statistics on general government financial accounts will be discontinued and the last separate release of the statistics will be on 21 December 2022. In future, data concerning general government financial accounts will be published as part of the quarterly published statistics on financial accounts.

According to Statistics Finland, general government's net financial assets, i.e. the difference between assets and liabilities, amounted to EUR 159.9 billion at the end of the third quarter of 2022. General government's net financial assets decreased by EUR 2.7 billion from the previous quarter.
