In the data collection for producer price indices for manufactured products and services, data are collected monthly on the products and services produced by enterprises and on their price changes. The data pertain to domestic market, export or import prices of products. Data
on turnover and the distribution of turnover can also be asked from enterprises. The data collection comprises in total approximately 2,500 enterprises.
The collected data are primarily used to produce producer price indices, which are used to
describe short-term inflationary pressures in various sectors of the economy. In addition, the indices are utilised in GDP and volume calculations. Research institutes and enterprises utilise the indices in various reports, monitoring and forecasts. In addition, producer price indices are used in index clauses in agreements.

The Suomi.fi identification as an organisation respondent requires that you have been given a mandate via your organisation to respond to the inquiry. The mandate is granted in the Suomi.fi service. Please find Statistics Finland's instructions related to mandates and identification attached.
Because you respond on behalf of the organisation, you need a mandate for the Suomi.fi identification from your organisation. The name of the mandate required is Responding to data collections from enterprises and organisations. The mandate definer (i.e. specifier)
thi is also needed in this inquiry.
In this data collection, an establishment definer (or place of business specifier) can be attached to the mandate if necessary. The definer can be found in in the email message about the data collection. By means of the definer the enterprise can define the mandate to relate only to a certain establishment.

The statistics on producer price indices for manufactured products cover enterprises that have manufacturing, imports or exports within the main categories A to F of the CPA 2008 product classification. The sample contains enterprises that have had manufacturing, imports or exports during the time period for which the data supplier sample has been made. The data suppliers have been selected from the Business Register, commodity statistics of manufacturing, and the foreign trade statistics of Finnish Customs using a stratified random sample.
The sampling frame of the producer price indices for manufactured products is based on Statistics Finland’s Business Register and statistics on service industry commodities. Depending on the service industry, data suppliers have been selected either by applying probability-based sampling and/or judicious sampling.
The data supplier sample for the producer price indices is updated annually.
Organisations have an obligation to provide data. The obligation to provide data is based on the Statistics Act (280/2004).
Statistics are beneficial for enterprises as well. Statistics can be used by enterprises to monitor, for example, the development of pay or trade in Finland. The more comprehensive the data we receive from enterprises, the better our statistics describe the activity of enterprises. Enterprises will then get better statistics as a basis for their decision-making.

No, you cannot. You must enter the producer price of the product.
Here, domestic market price refers to the price of a product manufactured in Finland when it first enters the market. In other words, report here the factory price exclusive of taxes.
Data are reported without value added tax. If the market price including excise duty is asked on the form, report all possible excise and environmental protection taxes, but value added tax is also left unreported in this case. As an exception to this rule, when reporting the taxable price of cars, both the motor vehicle tax and value added tax are reported in the price.
No, report prices without customs taxes.
Producer price indices for manufactured products and services are used in GDP and volume calculations when measuring economic growth, for example. The statistics are also utilised in connection with financial analyses and to support decision-making related to economic policies. Research institutes and enterprises use the indices in their reports, monitoring and forecasts. They can also be used as index clauses in agreements.

Enterprises have an obligation to respond to Statistics Finland's data collections. The obligation to provide data is based on the Statistics Act (280/2004).
Exemption from the obligation can be sought based on Section 8 of the Statistics Act if responding causes unreasonable inconvenience. Unreasonable inconvenience refers to putting the respondent in an unequal position with regard to other data providers. Exemption can be sought only from individual surveys and Statistics Finland cannot grant a general exemption from all data collections. Exemption is granted for a fixed period and may be granted wholly or in part.
When we consider granting an exemption, we consider the respondents' possibilities to supply the requested data and the importance of the data in producing and utilising statistics. Unreasonable inconvenience caused to the data supplier refers to putting the data supplier
in an unequal position with regard to other data suppliers.
We cannot grant an exemption due to an enterprise's lack of resources or time or the difficulty caused by the provision of data or corresponding reasons.
If you are considering requesting exemption, please contact us first. The contact information can be found in the accompanying letter and on the homepage of the data collection.
You can seek exemption with a free-form written application or with the form Application for exemption from the obligation to provide data (PDF).
