Trade data for new dwellings
The data collection on transactions in new dwellings is carried out four times a year. The statistical unit of the data collection is the individual transaction of a new dwelling. The target population is enterprises producing and selling new dwellings.
Data on price indices for new dwellings in housing companies are published four times a year as part of the statistics on prices of housing companies. The price index is based on data from the price monitoring service of the Federation of Estate Agents and on the transaction data on new dwellings sold collected directly from developers by Statistics Finland in this data collection (the Trade data on new dwellings data collection). The data in the index describe the price development of new dwellings sold in housing companies. In addition, the statistics publish information on prices per square metre and numbers of new dwellings in housing companies.
In addition to national statistics, the data are used for the owner-occupied housing price indices and the value and volume indicators of housing transactions to be transmitted to Eurostat. The data are also used in the Consumer Price Index, Financial Accounts and National Accounts.
The European Union requires an index of prices of new dwellings.
