Description

These statistics describe employment during studies among students attending post-comprehensive school education. The data on employment among students are produced by combining Statistics Finland’s individual-based data files on students with the data of employment statistics. No surveys are conducted among students. The statistics contain a diversity of data on the education and employment of students. The statistics have been produced annually since 1995. In 2005 the population of the statistics was modified to include only students 18 years of age or older. Statistics for the years 1995–2004 include the employment data of students younger than 18 years of age, unless otherwise indicated. In accordance with the Statistics Act, the personal data from which these statistics are compiled are confidential. As a rule, the statistics produced from them are public.

Data content

The statistics contain data on employment among students in upper secondary general, vocational, polytechnic and university education.

Classifications used

The statistical data are classified by Statistics Finland’s, the Educational Administration’s and international classifications of fields and levels of education and by diverse regional and demographic classifications.

Data collection methods and data sources

The data are produced by combining Statistics Finland’s individual-based data on students with data from employment statistics. The data on students are based on those collected by Statistics Finland on students and the data on employment on those of Statistics Finland’s employment statistics.

The data are ready in March.

Time series

The statistics have been produced annualy since 1995. In 2005 the population of the statistics was modified to include only students 18 years of age or older. Statistics for the years 1995–2004 include the employment data of students younger than 18 years of age, unless otherwise indicated.
