Sales of retail trade grew by 14.0 per cent in February

According to Statistics Finland, retail trade sales were 14.0 per cent higher in February 2008 than one year previously. Department store sales grew by 14.3 per cent and daily consumer goods sales by 14.6 per cent in the same period. Strong growth was also recorded in wholesale trade and motor vehicle trade. In wholesale trade the growth from the previous year's corresponding month amounted to 14.0 per cent and in motor vehicle trade to 8.1 per cent. In total trade the growth of sales accelerated to 13.0 per cent in February.

The cumulative annual change of retail trade in January to February was 10.9 per cent. In the same period the corresponding figure for motor vehicle sales stood at 10.2 per cent and for daily consumer goods sales at 14.1 per cent. In total trade the growth of sales grew by 12.7 per cent in February from one year previously.
