Wages and salaries sum fell by 0.3 per cent in April to June

The wages and salaries sum of the whole economy was 0.3 per cent smaller in the past April to June period than in the corresponding period twelve months before. In the first quarter of the year the wages and salaries sum still grew by 0.7 per cent. In the April to June period of last year the wages and salaries sum grew by 8.1 per cent year-on-year.

The growth in the wages and salaries sum slowed down or fell in nearly all main industries in the April to June period. The development in the wages and salaries sum of the whole economy was decelerated most strongly by falls in the wages and salaries sums in manufacturing (-7%) and construction (-5.7%). The wages and salaries sum also fell in trade and financial intermediation. In other services the wages and salaries sum was slightly up on the year before. The wages and salaries sum grew more favourably than in the year before only in the private educational services sector (8.1%).
